Blaze leaves 3 homeless

Inferno consumes three-story Coal Township home

COAL TOWNSHIP — More than 100 firefighters wrestled a Saturday afternoon fire that destroyed a three-story home and displaced a family of three.

Tim Reigle and Amy Masden lost their home on Oak Street in Coal Township after Masden received word from Reigle to come home because the structure was in flames.

“I was out at a yard sale with my son,” she said. “Tim called and said to get home right away.”

Coal Township Assistant Fire Chief Mike Timco was unsure what caused the blaze, and said his forces are still investigating.

Around 2:30 p.m. firefighters were exhausted and drinking water because of the nearly 80-degree weather.
