Hops, Vines and Wines Festival tickets snapped up in 12 minutes

— SELINSGROVE — All 1,600 Hops, Vines and Wines Festival tickets were sold out in a jaw-dropping 12 minutes Saturday morning.

“Isn’t that crazy,” Main Street Manager Mary Bannon said, still astonished by the swift response to the sixth annual festival, scheduled for July 20 on University Avenue between Broad and West Pine streets in downtown Selinsgrove.

The $50 tickets became available for sale online only at 8 a.m. Saturday and were snapped up in seconds despite a 12-ticket limit.

The event sold out in two hours last year, Bannon recalled.

The festival has fast become one of the most popular in the area, which Bannon credits to festival Chairwoman Carol Handlan for creating a “fun and highly organized event.”

Shuttle service is provided to guests staying at local hotels and inns within two miles of the event.

The festival will feature beer from more than 30 breweries and locally made wine, free food and live music by Anthony Clark and other artists.

The money raised by the event benefits the Main Street Manager program, which faces a loss of state funding in a couple of years.
