5 battle for Union County crown

LAURELTON — Five teens competing to be the Miss Union County West End Fair Queen are touting the municipality’s close-knit communities, bucolic charm and agricultural importance as they prepare for the 37th pageant Wednesday evening.

The pageant winner will represent Union County in the state fair queen competition in Hershey in January and in other West End Fair and community events.

“The best part of living in Union County is the beauty of the area,” says Sara Moyer, 17, a daughter of Steven and Judy Moyer, of Laurelton, who is entering her senior year at Mifflinburg Area High.

“We’re surrounded by mountains and Penns Creek is absolutely spectacular. Spending the day in the woods hunting or on the water kayaking or fishing are some of my favorite things to do — and it’s all five minutes from my doorstep.”
