DANVILLE — DANVILLE - For the premier episode of the Pennsylvania Cable Network’s “Discover Main Street PA” program, viewers will see the sights and sounds of Danville’s Mill Street.
Each hour-long episode of “Discover Main Street PA” showcases two communities engaged in revitalizing their downtown and central business district. The very first episode of the program will spotlight Danville as well Lancaster County’s Manheim. “Danville is a good example of a community that’s moving forward with the main street approach in a really positive way,” said Ashley Shelton, of the Pennsylvania Downtown Center, which has partnered with PCN for the show. “We’re very happy to have chosen them to be featured for this PCN show.”
The Danville Business Alliance worked directly with PCN to choose Mill Street locations to feature in the episode. Footage collected included the Old Forge Brewing Company, Beiter’s Department Store, BJ’s Steak House, Stoneware, the Montgomery House, Danville’s historical society and the town mural.
“I think it s a real tribute to the town and the DBA and the reputation we have with the state and the Pennsylvania Downtown Center,” said Jim Wilson, executive director of the DBA. “I think it attests to the success we’ve had.”
Dick Johns, president of Danville’s borough council, praised the DBA and Wilson’s efforts in improving Mill Street and being recognized by PCN. “They’re doing a great job making Mill Street better,” he said. “I am proud of Danville.”
The first episode of “Discover Main Street PA” will air at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 19 on PCN, which is channel 59 for CATV subscribers. The episode will air again at 7 a.m., Monday, May 20.
