Selinsgrove police seek trio that beat, robbed 18-year-old

SELINSGROVE — Borough police are searching for three men after an 18-year-old borough resident reported being pistol-whipped while being robbed of $350 on West Spruce Street.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the 18-year-old, whose name is being withheld by police, was assaulted on West Spruce Street near Orange Street by three attackers, police said. The victim was struck numerous times to the face and head with what was believed to be the butt of a pistol, police said.

The man was treated at a hospital for his injuries and released.

Police said the man was visiting the home of a friend prior to the attack, and he was able to fight back against the attackers, striking at least one of them in the face with his fist.

Police are unclear if any of the men suffered injuries but said the suspects fled south on Elderberry Alley between Orange and Eighth streets.

The suspects are described as a white male, approximately 5 feet,10 inches tall, a black male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build wearing a hat, and another black male, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build, wearing shorts. Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 374-8655. Information will be kept confidential.
