Locker room trashed, property stolen, during high school football game

BEAVER SPRINGS — Cell phones and money were stolen from West Snyder Middle School lockers used by Pine Grove High football players while they were competing in the second half of Friday night’s game against East Juniata.

“The kids were obviously very upset after they returned to the locker room, and saw what had happened,” Pine Grove Athletic Director Scott Dimon said Tuesday night.

The players’ backpacks and equipment had also been thrown in the shower room and the water turned on by whoever committed the crimes.

Dimon said he was unable to estimate the cost of the loss to the players.

“But there are 45 players and most of them had things ruined,” Dimon said. “This is still under investigation by the state police. I told our kids, who were angry, that everything was in the hands of some very competent police officers who would get to the bottom of this.”

East Juniata and Midd-West high schools do not field complete football teams of their own, so they play as a combined team — East Juniata.

Nothing was stolen or ruined in the East Juniata locker area, Dimon said.

Pine Grove won the game, 33-14.

Anyone with information regarding this information regarding this incident is asked to contact state police at Selinsgrove at 374-8145.
