SHAMOKIN DAM — A $2.4 million resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation project on a three-mile section of Route 15 in Snyder County has scheduled additional ramp work to the original project.
New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. will start the additional work, which includes emergency ramps, milling and paving of the ramps located on the Sunbury side of the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
The added work includes roadway base repairs, milling and resurfacing of the existing ramps, new emergency ramps and drainage improvements, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation said.
The resurfacing of the roadway will provide a smoother ride and skid resistance. The emergency ramps will aid in traffic backups if there is a crash on the bridge.
Milling and resurfacing will take place at night. Motorists are advised to that starting Thursday night, and then again on Sunday night thru all of next week (weather permitting), the work from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. will cause delays in traffic.
