Evangelical Community Hospital acquires SUN Orthopaedic Group

LEWISBURG - Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg announced this morning that it has acquired the SUN Orthopaedic Group, also based in Lewisburg.

The purchase was made in an effort to address the growing needs of the community and should be complete by the end of 2013, according to a press release by Evangelical.

"The demand for orthopaedic surgery continues to grow as people live longer and want to stay active and healthy," said Michael O'Keefe, president and chief executive officer of Evangelical in the release. "By officially bringing SUN Ortho into our family, we are confident about meeting that demand and offering our orthopaedic patients the continuum of care that's so vital for recovery."

SUN Orthopaedic Group is a team of eight Orthopaedic surgeons specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of bone and joint disorders, and sports injuries, according to a press release by Evangelical. The practice specializes in orthopaedic surgery, reconstruction, sports medicine, musculoskeletal injuries and physical therapy.

The two healthcare companies have worked together in the past, and the purchase should solidify a seamless experience for patients, according to Evagelical.
