Fire knocks out power in Middleburg

MIDDLEBURG - Power was knocked out for more than 1,000 customers in Middleburg this afternoon when a delivery truck's lift made contact with electrical wires outside of the Dollar General store on Route 522.

An AmeriGas truck was delivering propane tanks to the store when the boom on the truck struck wires as it was moving a tank into place, igniting a fire. The truck was damaged and the driver was being treated for injuries.

As of 3 p.m., power had been restored to all but 123 customers.

Dollar General sustained minor heat damage from the fire.

Check back for more details later.
