LEWISBURG — NATALIE — A Northumberland County man is facing numerous charges after he burst into his home early Monday morning and assaulted both his girlfriend and her disabled father after grabbing the couple’s 17-month-old baby, authorities said.

James Koronkiewicz, 32, was charged with felony aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and two counts of harassment, according to court documents.

Koronkiewicz’s girlfriend, Sarah McGinley, told police Koronkiewicz “was clearly under the influence of something” when he burst into the home the couple shares on Center Street in Natalie at about 1 a.m., ran upstairs and threw things around before entering their son’s bedroom and grabbing the boy, police said.

When McGinley’s father tried to convince Koronkiewicz to put down the child, Koronkiewicz began cursing and punching the man, whom his daughter described as disabled, police said.

Koronkiewicz allegedly repeatedly punched and kicked the man with his steel-toed boots before turning to his girlfriend and shoving her onto a couch and throwing a wooden rocking chair at her, police said.

McGinley’s mother then tried to break up the confrontation as Koronkiewicz’s girlfriend called 911, police said.

At this point, McGinley said Koronkiewicz fled the house and ran toward the nearby woods, where police later found him, according to court documents.

McGinley’s father suffered multiple injuries to his neck and back and reportedly was unconscious at one point. He was transferred to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for treatment, according to police. Injuries also were visible on McGinley, police said.

Koronkiewicz was arraigned Monday in front of District Judge Hugh Jones in Mount Carmel and released on $50,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday before Jones.
