— DANVILLE — A woman will face county court action on charges of stealing jewelry worth more than $8,000 from her grandmother and jewelry valued at nearly $700 from her mother.
Kimberly Elizabeth Lander, 22, of 29 Cashner Road, waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Montour County District Judge Marvin Shrawder. She also plans to apply for admission to drug court.
Lander and co-defendant Gregory A. Hummer, 28, of 45 Hummer Road, were charged with the thefts.
Lander was charged with two counts of theft and receiving stolen property from her grandmother, Carol Elizabeth Cashner, 65, of Liberty Township, from July 7 of last year to Jan. 29.
She was also charged with two counts of theft and receiving stolen property from her mother, Jennifer Sue Moyer, 43, also of Liberty Township, from the same time period.
Police said Lander stole $8,277 worth of gold jewelry from Cashner’s bedroom. Police said the jewelry was sold for cash at Bob’s Gold and Coin and Bloom Gold in Bloomsburg.
On Jan. 29, Lander confessed to police outside 25 Cashner Lane. She gave police $120 she had just received from a pawn shop. Police recovered a number of pieces of gold jewelry from the pawn shops and Lander.
Police charged Hummer with two counts each of theft and receiving stolen property. Hummer knew Lander had taken many pieces of gold jewelry from Cashner and Moyer, that she pawned it at shops in Bloomsburg and was given items purchased with proceeds from the gold sales, police said.
