Driver, boy, 6, hurt in Route 15 crash

— LEWISBURG — A 61-year-old Milton woman and a 6-year-old boy were hurt Monday night when their vehicle hit a guide rail and a concrete barrier before overturning on Route 15, state police at Milton said.

The driver, Marilyn Poust, was flown by helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, with moderate injuries, troopers said. She was reported in serious condition at 10:20 p.m. She was thrown through the windshield when the vehicle overturned. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

Her passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to Geisinger by ambulance. The boy, whose name was not released, was in a child’s seat, police said.

The accident occurred at 7:10 p.m. as Poust drove north on Route 15 between Col. John Kelly Road and the West Milton exit in White Deer Township, Union County. She went off the road for unknown reasons, police said, striking the guide rail, then went back across both lanes and hit the concrete barrier. The vehicle came to rest with its tires blocking the left lane.

Police said Poust will be cited in the crash. The vehicle was towed.

The William Cameron Engine Company assisted at the scene.
