SNYDERTOWN - An 18-year-old girl from northern Pennsylvania was killed in a one-car crash this morning on Snydertown Road in the area of Anthracite Road in Upper Augusta Township.
Sarah Reid lost control of her Honda Civic while traveling toward Sunbury on Snydertown Road at 9:55 a.m., according to state police at Stonington.
Her car veered off the road after negotiating a left-hand curve on the wet roadway, struck a tree and spun before coming to a stop. Police said she was apparently driving at a high rate of speed just before the crash and was not wearing a seat belt.
Northumberland County Coroner James F. Kelley arrived at the accident scene at 10:30 a.m. and assisted state police at Stonington with the investigation.
