Market Street duplexes planned

Danville developers ask for zoning variances

DANVILLE — Six duplexes are planned for Danville.

The Danville Zoning Hearing Board last week heard two requests for variances for duplexes at its meeting in borough council chambers.

Board members approved the requests by partners Bower and Strausser.

They were for side setbacks in a Residential 2A and Residential 2B district at 964-998 E. Market St., and for front and rear setbacks in an R2A district at Cooper and Mowery streets.

Steve Strausser represented the partners at the hearings.

He said the Market Street property contains 10 lots that were too small for duplexes and they plan to turn them into five lots with a duplex on each lot.

Danville Borough Code Administrator Jackie Hart said the borough had previously approved the setbacks for the Cooper and Mowery location. She said a request had been made in August 2009 and approved but had since expired.

One duplex is planned there.
