Illegal tryst alleged

Cops: Woman, 18, had sex with boy, 13

MILTON — MILTON — An 18-year-old Milton woman is in jail, accused of sexual assault for having sex with a 13-year-old Lycoming County youth.

Cheyenne Caldwell was charged Tuesday with statutory sexual assault with a person under age 16 and and aggravated indecent assault of a person under age 16. Both are second-degree felonies.

She also is charged with indecent assault, a misdemeanor.

Caldwell was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Gary Whiteman of Montoursville. She is in Lycoming County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. Her preliminary hearing before Whiteman will take place Monday.

State police at Montoursville filed the charges after investigating the alleged Nov. 27, 2013, encounter between the victim and Caldwell. The victim’s mother brought the matter to state police when on Dec. 9, she said she found Facebook and text messages from Caldwell to her son that were sexual in nature, according to the affidavit filed with Whiteman.

The mother said she questioned her son about the relationship, and he indicated he and Caldwell engaged in sex. The mother then sent a text message to Caldwell asking what happened, to which Caldwell replied “we had sex,” the affidavit states.

State police also questioned the boy, who confirmed a sexual encounter with Caldwell, the affidavit states. Caldwell declined an interview with the state police.
