The Daily Item introduces local news apps for iPhone, Android, mobile Web

SUNBURY — The Daily Item today makes it easier for users of iPhones, Androids, smart phones and other portable electronic devices to check the latest news and information.

Local news, sports, and entertainment headlines, a complete local weather package from Accuweather, along with newspaper editorials, letters to the editor and obituaries are now accessible with the swoosh of a finger on The Daily Item’s iPhone and Android apps and web-based mobile application.

The Daily Item’s iPhone app is now available as a free download from Apple’s iTunes App Store. Just search for “The Daily Item,” then download the free app. Those with iPhones equipped with a barcode scanner can turn to the ad on Page D6 in today’s newspaper then scan the red QR code at the bottom left for a direct link to The Daily Item’s iPhone app.

Owners of Android devices, search “The Daily Item” at the Android Market, then download the free Daily Item Mobile app. Those with barcode scanner-equipped phones can scan the QR code in the upper left corner of the ad on Page D6 today for a link to the app.

For users of any other type of cell phone or mobile device capable for accessing the Internet, browse to: for a mobile format designed for small cell phone screens then bookmark the page in your favorites for easy retrieval. The QR code link for this is at the upper right of the ad on Page D6 today.

All of the applications enable users to view and share with others the most recent stories and photos posted across all of the electronic platforms maintained by The Daily Item in a format optimized for your specific device.

All mobile content mirrors the selection of stories and photos posted to The Daily Item’s website at The mobile phones do not attempt to replicate the daily newspaper in its printed form, but instead focus primarily on breaking news, updates and new information developing throughout the day across central Pennsylvania.
