— SHAMOKIN DAM - The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce announced today that Charlie Ross has resigned as president.
Ross, who has been president of the GSVCC since June, 2009, informed the board that he will be purusing other interests, according to a statement released by the chamber.
Jim Barbarich, a long-time board member and current board of directors’ chairman, has been named interim president. He will remain in that position until a permanent successor is named.
Barbarich, president and chief executive officer for M-C Federal Credit Union, Danville, joined the GSVCC Board of Directors in 2009, serving as a Region Vice President for the Chamber’s Region Five, and then as the Board’s Vice Chairman before being named Chairman in January of this year. Barbarich and his wife Carol live in Danville.
“I am excited to assume this interim position,” says Barbarich. “The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce provides vital services to the region’s business community. I look forward to working with the staff to ensure continued excellence of existing services while exploring new opportunities for growth and change.”
The chamber's personnel committee will now launch a search for a new president.. The directors said they will focus its search on a regional basis.
