MIDDLEBURG — A former employee of Children’s Discovery Center may be able to reduce a jail sentence she faces if she repays at least half of the $34,000 she admittedly stole from the day care located on the grounds of the Selinsgrove Center in Penn Township.
Pamela S. Crites, 41, of Milton, pleaded guilty to felony theft in Snyder County Court Tuesday.
She was arrested last August for stealing nearly $35,000 from the day care over a two-year period by depositing checks made out the Discovery Center and keeping the cash payments.
Crites pleaded guilty to felony theft by unlawful taking. Two other felony counts of receiving stolen property and theft by failure to make required disposition were dismissed.
She faces a minimum of three- to 12-months in county jail and a maximum of up to two years in state prison.
Under the plea deal, she could lower the minimum penalty if she pays back at least half of the $34,596 she stole before the sentencing hearing in late August. The maximum sentence will be decided by Judge Michael H. Hudock.
