HUMMELS WHARF — A 19-year-old man is facing assault charges on an unborn baby for allegedly punching and squeezing a 17-year-old woman who is four months pregnant with his child.
Michael Allen Lepley II, of 2118 N. Old Trail, Hummels Wharf, attacked his girlfriend, who’s name is being withheld because of her age, after they got into an argument Monday at his home over text messages he had received from another girl, state police at Selinsgrove said.
Lepley allegedly grabbed his pregnant girlfriend by the hair, choked her, threw her on the ground and began punching and squeezing her stomach.
The woman told police that Lepley told her that she “doesn’t deserve a baby” and “I pray every night that baby dies.”
Trooper Matthew Miller observed bruises on the woman’s stomach and legs when he interviewed her several hours after the incident, court records said.
Lepley was arraigned before District Judge John H. Reed on charges of felony aggravated assault of an unborn child, misdemeanor assault and recklessly endangering another person.
He’s being held in Snyder County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing set for Monday morning.
