Hearing postponed for suspect in Snyder County assault case

SELINSGROVE — The preliminary hearing for a 19-year-old accused of assaulting a pregnant woman has been postponed until May.

Michael Allen Lepley, of Hummels Wharf, was scheduled to appear today before District Judge John H. Reed on charges related to his alleged attack last week on the 17-year-old woman who is four months pregnant with his child. Her name is being withheld because she’s a minor.

The hearing was continued until May 13 at the request of his attorney, Patrick Johnson.

Lepley is accused of punching and squeezing the young woman, throwing her on the floor and choking her during an argument at his home, court records said.

He is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail on charges of first-degree felony aggravated assault of an unborn child, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.
