Montour County meth lab case goes to trial June 10

DANVILLE — The case of a woman charged with operating the first known methamphetamine lab in Danville is scheduled for trial.

Peggy Rieder, 27, of Apt. 2 at 528 E. Market St., is listed for trial, Montour County District Attorney Rebecca Warren told Judge Gary Norton Friday.

Rieder, represented by Attorney Kim Hill, remains in jail in lieu of $250,000 straight bail.

The earliest she could go to trial would be in June with jury selection set for June 10.

At her preliminary hearing, an undercover trooper testified Rieder could have been cooking four to eight one-pots of methamphetamine.

Police said the lab, discovered in March 2013, was located within 100 yards of the Danville Middle School.

Besides operating a meth lab, Rieder faces charges of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to manufacture a controlled substance and risking a catastrophe.
