— DANVILLE – There could be hundreds of people along Routes 54 and 11 tomorrow on “Gun Appreciation Day.”
“It was a spur of the moment. A friend of mine and I started talking about it Tuesday night and we started calling people. We expect people to be coming and going. I am hoping for hundreds if everybody follows through with what they told me,” said organizer Brock Hoyes of Danville.
He plans to make signs for people to hold up during the peaceful event. He wasn’t sure of the content of the signs as of Friday morning.
“This will not be about any political debate. We are showing our support of our constitutional rights and state’s rights as laid out in the Bill of Rights,” he said.
They expect to be there from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
“We don’t want people to debate with us or argue. That’s not what this is about,” he said.
Hoyes said people could be lined up along the dike or toward Weis Markets depending upon how many show up.
