Thieves target storage units

SUNBURY — Between 20 and 25 storage units were forced open and items were stolen, police said, and they are looking for the public’s help in solving the crimes.

State Police at Stonington said sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, the KAMPCO Self Storage rental units were forced open and items were removed from them. The final cost and amount stolen are yet to be determined.

The incidents occurred sometime between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Police believe someone parked on Snydertown Road in the area of KAMPCO, removed items from the units and transported them to a vehicle parked on the adjacent road.

Authorities are asking anyone who observed vehicles parked along the road, or any suspicious activity near the storage units Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, to please contact police at 286-5601.
