Shamokin man seriously injured in Saturday afternoon motorcycle crash

STONINGTON — A 59-year-old Shamokin man is listed in critical condition at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville today following a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon in Shamokin Township.

Emil J. Reibsome was wearing a safety helmet when he was thrown from his cycle at 4:17 p.m. along Route 61, just south of the Reading Railroad lines, state police at Stonington said.

Reibsome was driving north on Route 61 when his cycle left he road for unknown reasons and struck a guardrail, police said. Reibsome was thrown from the cycle and landed near the railroad tracks. He was transported to Geisinger Medical Center by a medical helicopter.

The Stonington and Elysburg fire departments, Elysburg EMS and Ralpho Township police assisted state police at the scene.
