The Daily Item
SUNBURY — It’s T-minus 22 hours, give or take, until the launch of The Daily Blast, a website that will push the outer limits with its eclectic menu of content all day long.
Now you know what everyone else will be talking about around the water cooler.
At 6 a.m. Monday, The Daily Blast — accessible from The Daily Item’s homepage or directly at www.dailyitem.com/dailyblast — will bring to you everything you never thought you would see or read, plus chances to win freebies, test your smarts and join some bizarre discussions.
Never thought you would watch video captured from a tiny camera attached to a gymnast as she backflips and dances around the floor, balances on a beam or swings her body between the uneven bars? We have it.
How about the oddest photos unfit for publication in a newspaper? Got them, too.
Write the best headline for an altogether different photo each week and win a large pizza? Check.
Submit the best photo on a variety of weekly topics and get a free car wash? Check.
Looking for the strangest news of the day? Check.
That eclectic menu starts with an item called Chatterbox, in which a Middleburg resident begins the discussion of “My Most Embarrassing Moment at Work Was When ...”
Let’s just say it involves a steel mill and a shower room scene.
(There is a place for you to type in that humiliating moment you just can’t live down. Just do it. It’s cathartic.).
Later Chatterbox discussions will be “How I Popped the Question” and “Here’s My Brush with Fame. I Was ...”
Got your attention? There will also be crossword puzzles and Asteroids and Cosmic Commander and pinball; a fantasy sports column; an area in which you can suggest to trade something free of yours for something free of theirs; and also Guess Who — no, not that Winnipeg band from way back. We’ll dig up an old — really old — photo of a featured Valley resident, slip in a few clues and see if you can, well, Guess Who. Our first clue for Week One: She’s an “American Woman.”
Strapped in? Helmet on?
The countdown has begun ...
