TURBOTVILLE – An elderly woman has died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning near Turbotville.
Marjorie J. Heydenreich, 83, of Washingtonville, died Monday, a spokeswoman for Geisinger Medical Center reported Tuesday morning.
She was listed in critical condition following the accident on Route 54 and a half-mile from County Line Road in Lewis Township.
The other driver – Elizabeth A. Dougherty, 58, of Wyomissing, had a moderate injury. A Geisinger spokeswoman had no information on her condition.
State police said both drivers were taken by Warrior Run ambulance to Geisinger.
Police said Heydenreich was traveling west and attempted to pass a witness in a passing zone in the eastbound lane.
Doughtery’s 2010 Honda CR-V was traveling in the opposite direction.
Heydenreich attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle and lost control of her 2005 Chevrolet Aveo, police said.
Police aid Dougherty attempted to avoid Heydenreich in the south berm but collided with the car.
After impact, the Heydenreich vehicle spun 360 degrees in a northwest direction, police said.
The police report stated Heydenreich was not searing a seat belt but Dougherty was wearing a lap and shoulder belt.
