New Columbia man killed in motorcycle crash

LEWISBURG — NEW COLUMBIA — A 40-year-old New Columbia man was thrown from his motorcycle and killed in an accident in White Deer Township, Union County, at 1:54 a.m. Sunday, state police at Milton said.

The biker, Craig A. Kratzer, was traveling west on Ridge Road, near Yonkin Road, on a 2011 Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a right curve and went off the road on the northern side of the highway, troopers said. The bike continued west along a ditch before striking a drainage culvert east of Yonkin Road.

Kratzer was thrown from the bike when it hit the culvert, and the motorcycle overturned and slid along the road.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Union County Deputy Coroner Bradley Miller.

The White Deer Township Fire Company, of New Columbia, assisted at the scene. Ridge Road was closed for about three hours for the investigation.
