Worker injured in logging accident this morning near Middleburg

MIDDLEBURG — A logger was injured Tuesday morning while removing trees from private property off Furnace Road.

Reliance Hose Company Fire Chief Dwayne “Butch” Hackenburg said the accident happened as two employees from Dean W. Brouse & Sons Lumber, of Kreamer, were logging on the private property about one-quarter mile from the road at about 8:30 a.m.

A chain used to pull a log snapped and struck one of the loggers in the calf, Hackenburg said.

He did not identify the injured man, who was taken to hospital for treatment. The extent of the injury was not known.

Assisting the Middleburg fire company were the local ambulance, Beavertown ambulance and Kreamer Fire Co. volunteers.
