Milton Police: Williamsport suspect had 100 bags of heroin

MILTON — A routine traffic stop in Milton Sunday led police to discover nearly 100 bags of heroin and to the arrest of a Williamsport man.
Matthew Romero, 30, also known as Matthew Saurez, was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession with intent to deliver and several traffic offenses, Milton Police Department reported.
Romero was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum and now is in Northumberland County Prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
It was not known immediately why police pulled over Romero or what led to the discovery of heroin, 98 bags in all with a total street value of almost $2,000.
