SHAMOKIN DAM — Work is set to begin May 19 on a three-mile resurfacing project on North Old Trail Road in Shamokin Dam and Monroe Township, Snyder County.
The resurfacing project includes drainage and shoulder upgrades in the township, and the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps, new curbing and sidewalks on the west side of the street in the borough.
The relocation of utilities in preparation of the road work is ongoing.
For the first month of this project, work will be done in the township until utility work is completed in the borough. There will be lane restrictions. Traffic control will be through channeling devices and flaggers, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation said.
Due to the utility work performed in the borough, there will be multiple changing traffic patterns. Motorists should find alternate routes, if possible.
The $2.4 million contract with Dave Gutelius Excavating, Inc. is scheduled for completion by late November.
