Fire damages bedroom in Sunbury

SUNBURY - A fire in the bedroom of a home on S. 10th Street in the city tied up traffic near the high school Wednesday afternoon.

Sunbury Fire Chief Mike Rhoads said the fire at 316 S. 10th St. was in a back bedroom of the residence. The fire was contained by crews to the bedroom of the residence, though there was some minor damage to the rest of the house.

"When we arrived, there was a working fire and heavy smoke coming from the back bedroom," he said.

Rhoads said crews were still working to determine the cause of the fire. The home's tenants were not home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
