Meth bust 2nd in week in Montour

DANVILLE — An alleged methamphetamine pusher was arrested in a sting operation Wednesday night after he was lured to a deal by a police informant and found to be carrying drug paraphernalia, Danville police report.

The bust related to methamphetamine was the second in Montour County in a week and fourth in the past two years.

Philip Jason Greenway, 37, of 120 Mill St. Apt./Suite 2F, was nabbed at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday on Library Avenue in Danville on charges that include suspected production of methamphetamine.

Greenway contacted the informant about purchasing cold medication “because he was doing a batch soon,” according to charges filed with Montour County District Judge Marvin Shrawder.

Police reviewed multiple text messages between the two.

Greenway allegedly wrote he had all the materials needed except for cold medication and could “spin one up pretty quick” once he had it. He also asked whether the informant had any “bud or spice,” which the informant agreed to get, police said.

The informant texted Greenway: “I’ll text ya when I’m close but your gonna have to come down by the library in that alley cause I got warrants for fines,” police said.

Police searched the informant, gave him a small amount of packaged marijuana and a box of Sudafed and took him to the transaction site.

Various officers were placed in the area of Library Avenue near Ferry Street. Greenway approached the informant at 7:42 p.m. and walked away a minute later, police said.

The informant signaled to police that the deal had been made.

Sgt. William Wilt, a Danville Police Department detective, took control of the informant. Local officers and members of the Northumberland/Montour County Drug Task Force — Ray Gerringer, Keith Davenport, Robert Blee and Clair Heath — apprehended Greenway on Library Avenue.

Police: We found “glass smoking device”

When police searched Greenway, they found the cold medicine, marijuana, a glass smoking device, two cigarette lighters, a spider key ring with two keys and an iPhone with a cracked screen, according to charges.

Greenway is being held on $25,000 bail. He faces one felony charges of prohibited acts, for creating, delivering or possessing with intent to deliver, a counterfeit controlled substance and for criminal use of a communication facility. He faces misdemeanor counts of prohibited acts for having a small amount of marijuana and for possessing drug paraphernalia. Greenway is scheduled to appear before Shrawder at 9 a.m. Monday.

Authorities on March 12 busted a suspected methamphetamine lab at a Cooper Township hotel, leading Montour County District Attorney Rebecca Warren to say “... the county is in the grip of a meth and heroin epidemic.”
