NORTHUMBERLAND — A motorcycle rider who was being pursued by police at a high rate of speed crashed his bike on Priestley Avenue after hitting a curb in front of Emmanuel Home.
Residents in the home reported hearing a thud at about 9:45 p.m. as the rider flew off the bike onto a patch of lawn. He briefly got to his knees before collapsing, just as police from three municipalities arrived.
The unidentified man was then strapped to a gurney and put in the back of an Area Services ambulance.
Sunbury police, who chased the motorcyclist from Sunbury into Northumberland said the rider had achieved speeds of more than 100 mph. They declined to say why the rider tried to evade them.
Assisting Sunbury Police were officers from Northumberland and Point Township.
