Man charged with threatening to blow up Allenwood federal prison

WILLIAMSPORT — A North Carolina man has been accused of threatening to blow up the low-security facility at the Allenwood prison complex.

Matthew Mitchell Wilson, 22, of Indian Trail, was charged this week in U.S. Middle District Court.

The criminal information alleges that on March 31, 2012. Wilson traveled from North Carolina to visit his brother, an inmate at the facility. He is accused of using a computer and a wireless network at a nearby motel to send a message that stated in the subject line: “there’s a bomb at your lcsi Allenwood.”

The body of the message, according the charge, stated: “I have placed a bomb in your facility. It will blow at 8:45 a.m. tomorrow.”

Wilson has signed an agreement to plead guilty to the charge that carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
