NEW COLUMBIA — A Milton man molested a 9-year-old girl at least three times — and threatened to hurt her relatives if she told anyone about the abuse, according to state police at Milton.
Robert Eugene Reynolds, 40, of Ryan Lane, has been charged with five felonies following the alleged assaults in the girl’s White Deer Township home between May and November 2009, troopers said.
It is the second time this week a Valley resident faced charges for alleged sexual crimes against children. Mifflinburg resident Jorge Allen Martin on Wednesday waived his right to a preliminary hearing after being charged with raping a 3-year-old girl multiple times over four months.
The first molestation occurred when the victim’s mother had to leave the home to take a relative to the hospital, police said. Reynolds approached the girl, who was sleeping on a couch, removed her clothing and touched her, police said.
The girl told authorities that Reynolds touched her inappropriately a second time when her mother left to go grocery shopping. Reynolds allegedly told the victim, “Let me do this or I will hurt your mom,” police said.
On the third occasion, Reynolds told the girl to touch him, police said.
The girl reported that she was “afraid and never told her mother about what had happened,” police said.
Police did not say who reported the abuse.
Reynolds faces two felony counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child, two felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor and one felony count of intimidation of a victim, court documents state. Reynolds also faces two counts each of misdemeanor indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age and misdemeanor corruption of minors.
Reynolds faces a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. Sept. 24 in front of District Judge Jeffrey Mensch in Mifflinburg.
