SELINSGROVE — A woman allegedly caught a 51-year-old Shamokin Dam man sexually assaulting her severely mentally handicapped daughter last week.
John M. Shaffer, of 158 Baldwin Blvd., Shamokin Dam, and the victim were visiting a Monroe Township resident Sunday evening when the alleged assault took place, state police at Selinsgrove said.
According to court records, the victim’s mother said Shaffer abruptly tucked in his shirt and zipped up his pants when she walked in on him and her daughter alone in the kitchen.
The alleged victim told police the following day that she licked Shaffer’s body. Police said Shaffer also admitted indecent contact with the girl, who’s name is being withheld due to the nature of the alleged offenses.
Shaffer was arraigned on felony charges of rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and misdemeanor indecent assault before District Judge John H. Reed. He is being held in Snyder County Prison in lieu of $50,000 cash pending a preliminary hearing Thursday.
