— DANVILLE — Geisinger Health System announced today a new program, Trusted Advisor, to help patients and the community prepare for changes associated with health reform and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Tuesday’s launch of Trusted Advisor is set to coincide with the state and federally facilitated Health Insurance Marketplace which begins open enrollment the same day pursuant to the ACA.

“With the launch of the state and federal health insurance marketplaces, it is natural that people are going to have questions about what the changes mean to them and their families,” said Geisinger President and Chief Executive Officer Glenn Steele, M.D.

“We are committed at Geisinger to sharing information to help everyone make the ACA work to their benefit.”

Geisinger Trusted Advisor provides information through a website and a toll-free health care reform information line at 855-849-1510.

Through these resources, area residents can learn what the ACA is, how it will affect them and what they need to consider when reviewing marketplace plans.

The website also provides links to other resources, including where Pennsylvania residents will shop for their new health insurance.

The information phone line connects callers with trained counselors who can provide real-time answers to ACA-related questions. Callers can also learn about Pennsylvania health insurers, including Geisinger Health Plan that are participating in the Marketplace Exchange.
