DEP sets public meeting Oct. 22 on co-generation plant

WILLIAMSPORT — The state Department of Environmental Protection will hold an informational meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 22, to outline the process they followed before granting a permit for a tire-fueled burner in White Deer Township.

The department issued a final Air Quality Plan Approval Sept. 27 to En-Tire Logistics of Milton PA LLC for construction of a co-generation facility in White Deer Township, Union County.

The public meeting, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22, will be held at the Warrior Run Area Fire Department, 196 White Deer Ave., Allenwood.

“Department staff will discuss the approval process, the roles of DEP and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the review, the obligations of the applicant, and what the issuance of the plan approval means,” said DEP North-central Regional Director Marcus Kohl.

Any person in need of an accommodation as provided for in the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 should contact Daniel Spadoni at 570-327-3659 or through the Pennsylvania AT&T Relay Service at 1-800-654-5984 (TDD).

Citizens interested in reviewing the permit documents, the comment and response documents and the risk assessment approval memo can find them online at: www.dep.state.pa.us, and click on “Regional Resources,” then “North-central,” then “Community Information.”
