Sacavage to step down in January

— SUNBURY — Northumberland County President Judge Robert Sacavage has announced he will retire from the bench after 18 years of service.

Sacavage, 62, sat down with The Daily Item Tuesday and explained he felt it was time to move on.

“I want to express my humble thanks to the electors and the residents of this county,” he said. “They have trusted me and put their confidence in me and I thank them all.”

Sacavage sent a “notice of retirement” to the Honorable Ronald D. Castille, Chief Justice, Pennsylvania Supreme Court that aid on Jan. 7, 2014 the president judge will be leaving the bench.

Sacavage will now apply to become a senior judge, he said.
