— MILTON — One day after the death of Mark Boyles, found dead in his car in the Kuhn’s Brothers parking lot on Hepburn Street, his family is puzzled over what happened and why.

Boyles, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene Monday night by Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley.

In ordering an autopsy, scheduled for today, Kelley told state police at Milton that Boyles’ death did not appear to be suspicious.

“Except,” he said, “as it relates to the ongoing investigation” of Vennie Boyles.

Vennie Boyles, of Milton, was Mark Boyles’ mother who was found dead in her home Nov. 4 at 8 Park Lane.

Just a few days before his death, Mark Boyles — a person of interest in his mother’s homicide — had been questioned by police and released.

Steve Connelley and his wife, Kay — Mark Boyles’ sister — issued a statement late Tuesday. The Lewisburg residents said: “We are profoundly saddened by the loss of two family members in as many weeks. The circumstances surrounding their deaths make it even more difficult. We would like to thank our friends and the community for reaching out to support us in these trying times.”

Steve Connelley added: “Maybe we’ll know a little more about what might have happened after we get results from the autopsy. We have our suspicions about what might have happened, but we’re not ready to voice them quite yet.”
