200 aid kin of dad killed on day of job loss

BEAVER SPRINGS — More than 200 people crammed an auction house Friday night to raise money for the family of a Beaver Springs resident who died in a Newport area car crash on the same day he had lost his job.

Residents in western Snyder County turned out in droves at the Beaver Springs Auction House to help relatives of Kenneth Sims, 40, who was killed in the accident after losing his job at PHEAA in Harrisburg.

“The accident happened early in the morning, Sept. 20,” said his surviving wife, Lori Sims, 30. Since then, she has had to leave her job and return home with her two children — Delton, 3, and Kaiden, 8 months — to live with her parents in Beavertown.
