DANVILLE — An Upper Mulberry Street man has been charged with rape stemming from a May incident when he offered a woman a ride home from the Danville Veterans of Foreign Wars on Mill Street.
James Bressi, of 215 Upper Mulberry Street, was arraigned on Dec. 22, by Columbia County District Judge Russell Lawton, on one charge of rape and one of indecent assault. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, in front of Marvin Shrawder, Montour County district judge.
According to court documents filed Dec. 18, Bressi picked up the woman from the VFW at 11:30 p.m. the May 19. According to a written statement, the woman's husband agreed that she could go with Bressi because he believed Bressi was an “OK person.” The husband planned to meet her at their home.
Bressi drove to the Pine Street extension, a dirt alleyway just below Upper Mulberry Street, when he stopped and said he had “a little favor,” according to the charges. He then turned the car lights off, pushed the woman's head between his legs and forced her to perform oral sex, charges said.
Bressi then drove the woman home, not saying anything. The victim reported the incident to Danville police on May 23.
