50-year-old Montour County woman faces drug charges

DANVILLE  — A Mahoning Township woman was charged after more than 20 empty heroin packets containing residue were found in a box in her apartment Dec. 7.

Township police charged Laura Jean Lewis, 50, of 401 Evergreen Pointe, with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Harry Shoffler told Evergreen Pointe Site Manager Sheylah Pagan he found illegal drugs in a box in the closet of the Lewis apartment.

A white cardboard box had fallen from the closet shelf. It contained 20-plus empty heroin packets with residue, a knife, six needles to attach to a syringe, four partial syringes, eight metal spoons with residue, a red cloth used to tie an arm to inject a substance and cotton swabs, according to police.

Shoffler told police only he and Lewis had lived in the apartment and the items could only belong to Lewis. He said he and Lewis had a falling out and that was why he was moving out.
