HAZLETON — Police in Hazleton say the window of a squad car was shot out, but the detective inside wasn't hurt.
Hazleton police Chief Frank DeAndrea sys it happened outside City Hall around 11:45 a.m. Thursday and dozens of officers responded. He says the rear window of the unmarked vehicle "exploded." He also says the windows of several unoccupied police vehicles have been shot out in the area in recent weeks.
In this case, police say there was an officer in the vehicle, but he's OK. DeAndrea says he believes the vehicle was shot with something, but police don't know exactly what.
Armed officers searched the area after the incident, but they found nothing. Investigators haven't found any shell casings or weapons.
