Johnson Mill Road bridge replacement starts June 11

MAZEPPA — APennDOT maintenance crew in Union County will begin a bridge replacement project next week on Johnson Mill Road, Route 1001 in the village of Mazeppa, Buffalo Township, Union County.

The existing, 24-foot-long bridge, built in 1932, carries Johnson Mill Road over Muddy Run, just south of the intersection with Beaver Run Road.

Starting on Wednesday, June 11, PennDOT crews will remove the existing bridge, which will be replaced with a new concrete box culvert. The PennDOT crew will then complete backfilling and install curbing, reconstruct the pavement approaches and install guiderail.

A four-mile, signed detour, using Route 192 and Beaver Run Road, will be in place during the length of the project, which is expected to be completed by late July.
