Sunbury has a lot to offer

I would like to respond to the letter writer that implied that Sunbury was a pretty package with nothing inside. It becomes obvious that she hasn't taken note of the YMCA, the skate park, the pool and ice skating rink (the only one in the entire area), Cameron Park, extensive library, art center, community hospital, numerous ball fields, and playgrounds and soon to be walking and bike trails.

Activities include the River Festival, Love and Care Street Fair, Fireman's Fair, and many more. There are certainly areas that can be improved on.

But it becomes tiresome for people to constantly dwell on the negative, and overlook the positive.

It must be pointed out that Sunbury is not unique in its problems. Other areas also must address some of the same issues.

  • Mutual aid is necessary

Mutual aid agreements in local law enforcement strike at the heart of basic small-town decency. When a neighbor is in need, those equipped to help ought to drop everything and spring to aid.
