The World Series kicks off tonight in Boston with the American League champion Red Sox hosting Game 1 against the National League champion St. Louis Cardinals.
The Series features two of the more historic teams in Major League history. The Red Sox ended their famous World Series 86-year drought – dubbed the Curse of the Bambino – in 2004 when they swept the Cardinals. The Red Sox also won the title in 2007.
The Cardinals are appearing in their third World Series since 2004, winning titles in 2006 and 2011.
St. Louis is making its 19th World Series appearance and its 11 titles are the second-most in baseball history behind the Yankees’ 27 titles. Boston is making its 12th Series appearance, winning seven times.
