We cry for the children and their families

(Continued)

Let us not tread once again across the familiar and irreconcilable landscape of talking points. We are weary of that shrug, sick of that shrug, embarrassed by it, outraged by it.

It has been 46 years since Charles Whitman climbed the Tower in Texas, shot 32 people to death, wounded 32 others and gave our language the words mass murderer.

We have moral, spiritual, educational and political leaders. We ask for their voices, their conscience, their courage. Who speaks for the lives lost in Friday's tragedy?

Weep. Pray. Speak. Act.
