I am proud to be a Republican at a time when it is not easy. I am also proud of the two candidates that we had in the primary. Each had his own qualifications that would service the needs of the 10th District very well.
I voted for Chris Hackett because he clearly represented the principles of fiscal responsibility on the part of the government that reflect my own principles. His position on earmarks is concise and to the point. He would end them. The leadership of the Republicans in the House of Representatives has abandoned the fight to control spending and has joined the Democrats making this the highest spending session in years. Chris Hackett will go to Washington and insist the Grand Old Party return to its principles.
The primary was hard-fought by both candidates. I don't know who went "negative" first, and really don't care. In their debates, interviews on the radio, and personal appearances, both candidates presented themselves well. My principles are not driven by advertisements or by who might be endorsing a candidate, they are driven by what the candidate says and believes.
Chris Hackett believes as I do that earmarks and reckless spending on the part of Congress must end. He has my support and I hope that all voters in the 10th District will rally around him to bring accountability and responsibility back to our politics.
