On April 28, I was reading the front page of the paper and I saw where Eleanor Kuhns passed away.
I was totally shocked. She was just in Harrisburg to see Hillary Clinton. It was so sad she collapsed after the rally was over.
Eleanor was one of the most classy ladies. She never backed down from her beliefs, where she butted heads with plenty of other commissioners and Northumberland County officials.
Eleanor loved Northumberland County and she respected all people regardless of their opinions, and fought for the citizens, especially the elderly and the poor. She was a very strong and proud woman.
I didn't know Eleanor personally, I just knew of her name in our county. I read almost all her letters to the editor. Eleanor was right about one thing, if we continue to throw away our money on frivolous projects and keep raising taxes we will be forever in debt.
Pennsylvania, especially Northumberland County, is beautiful. We must stand up and continue Eleanor's work to keep this county prosperous. That is the real way to honor her memory. So, all residents of our beautiful county, let's stop the ills being done to our towns and cities.
Rest in peace, Eleanor Kuhns. God be with you.
